Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the efficiency of excavating work by moving an excavator to desired position by the reciprocating motion of a hoist and the rotation of a beam to thereby excavate a vertical hole of desired position and size.
CONSTITUTION: A vertical hole excavator 10 is carried to a field for excavating a vertical hole with its members and assembled in the field. Thus, the excavator 10 is operated by an operator in a cab 52 provided at its frame 12. A motor 26 is started to rotate a beam 16 in the peripheral direction of a track, the drive units in hoists 38, 39 are started to thereby move the hoists 38, 39 onto the beam 16, and an excavating tool 48 is located at desired position. Then, the tool 48 is lowered to excavate a vertical hole 50. Thereafter the tool 48 is raised, and the beam 16 is again rotated and the hoists 38, 39 are again moved to exhaust gravel or the like grabbed by a conveyor disposed in the vicinity of the frame 12.
