Abstract

PURPOSE: To properly grind each spring, by surely detecting the insufficient grinding of a spring on the basis of the fact that the spring has a height larger than a desired value and thrusts a disc and by correcting a quantity ground by a grindstone in response to the detection.
CONSTITUTION: When a spring 2 is roughly ground to a desired height, it does not come into contact with a disc 46b and passes thereunder. If a ground spring has a height larger than the desired value, it comes into contact with the disc 46b and thrusts it upward. A vertically movable shaft 46 is elevated by the thrust so that a rocker 36 is swung clockwise around a shaft 37 against a spring force. As a result, a switch 40 is closed to drive an alarm 54 to warn that the rough grinding of the spring is insufficient. Solenoid valves 56, 57 are opened with a prescribed time difference by the closing of the switch 40 to sequentially move an upper and a lower grindstones 4a, 4b up or down by a half of an allowable range for the height of the spring to regrind the spring 2 to the desired height.
