Abstract
PURPOSE: To shift the slight amount of P in the electrode core wire into molten slag and achieve the improvement in the decrease of welding strength by P by using the amorphous fluorine-contained or fluorine-contained and magnesium-oxide-contained calcium silicate whose relations of viscosity and surface tension are within the limited range and which is expressed by the specific constitutional formula as the captioned meterial.
CONSTITUTION: The amorphous fluorine-contained or fluorine-contained and magnesium-oxide-contained calcium silicate whose relations of viscosity and surface tension at 1550°C are in the range encircled by A (viscosity 1.6 poise; surface tension 410 dyne/cm) - B(1.8; 438) - C(2.8; 406) - D(1.8; 378) and which is expressed by the constitutional formula [(1-n)CaO+nMgO].xSiO2.yF(where n is 0.3, x= 0.77W1, y=0.05W0.3) is used as the captioned material. If y is within the abovementioned range, the material becomes the glassy material of moderate silicic acid molecular chain lengths and therefore the surface tension of the melt is adequate and viscosity becomes consistent, thus it is adquate in terms of the performance of the covering material and the welding work.
