Abstract

PURPOSE: To form a magnetic recording tape with a few dropouts by using a base (polymer film) with specific factors (particle diameter, surface state).
CONSTITUTION: As the base film of a magnetic recording tape, a polymer film (e.g. a polyester film of approximate 15μ in thickness) with Xc and H2 is used providing that the value of (y) indicated by the formula [Xc is mean crystal particle diameter (Å); H2 is the number of projections of 0.54 to 0.80μ in height per 1mm2 square] should be 20 or less. Preferably, the above-mentioned projections are formed of inert outside particles of a substance except calcium carbide.
