Abstract
PURPOSE: To correct right and left pincushion distortion by varying secondary inductance by a primary current by coupling two cores with a clearance and then by allowing magnetic fluxes, generated by coils wound around both cores, to cross at right angles.
CONSTITUTION: Foot parts of channel-shaped core 1 and channel-shaped core 2 turned by 90° are coupled together with gap (g). Primary coil 3 is wound around one foot part 1a of core 1 and secondary coil 4 around one foot part of core 2. Next, coil 3 is supplied with parabolic current IV of vertical cycles applied with an adequate direct-current bias, and coil 4 with horizontal polarizing current IH. When the number of times of winding of coil 3 is denoted Nv, the number of times of winding Nv is made large and current Iv is decreased to saturate magnetic flux (ϕv) by magnetizing force; and the number of times of winding NH of coil 4 thickened in diameter is made large enough to obtain needed variable inductance for left and right pincushion distortion and gap (g) is provided to prevent magnetic flux (ϕH) from being saturated. This constitution provides the variation in inductance of coil by parabolic current Iv, so that left and right pincushion distortion can be corrected.
