Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent uneven rotation (pulsation) of a roller chain by arranging a deflection guide member at a predetermined location on the driving side of the roller chain to deflect the chain before inducting it to a sprocket.
CONSTITUTION: Pulsation phenomenon of a roller chain 2 is prevented by arragning a deflection guide member 5 on the tension side of the chain 2 to curve and deflect the chain 2 before inducting it to a sprocket 1. The guide member 5 is so positioned as to satisfy the relation: L=(n+0.5)P, where L is the length of the chain 2 between the point A at which the chain rollers start to contact the member 5 and the point B at which the teeth of the sprocket 1 start to engage the chain rollers, and P is the link pitch of the chain 2.
