Abstract

PURPOSE: To accurately meter the damped stress of a sample under a suitable pressure and at a suitable temperature by transmitting the damped stress of the sample, which is supported in a pressure container, through damped stress transmitting means to a gauge, which is provided outside of the container.
CONSTITUTION: A sample 100 is inserted into a pressure container 1, and a wire 22 is tensiled to such an extent that no tension is applied to the sample 100 while preventing the wire 22 itself from becoming slack, so that the sample 100 may be supported in the container 1. Damped stress transmitting means 21 is so adjusted that the damped stress can be accurately transmitted. The container 1 is supplied with a pressure medium so that the damped stress of the sample 100 may be measured under a preset pressure. Since the gauge 15 is provided outside of the container 1, the damped stress of the sample 100 can be accurately measured without being influenced by the pressure. The measurements can be performed at any temperature by dipping the container 1 in a constant temperature bath. Thus, the damped stress can be accurately measured under a suitable pressure and at a suitable temperature.
