Abstract

PURPOSE: To hold the high voltage resistivity and to shorten the response time to a temperature to be detected by coating the portion of a thermocouple other than its leading end with a thick insulating layer.
CONSTITUTION: The leading end 12 of a thermocouple 10 or the leading end of a thermocouple wire 11 is coated with a thin insulating layer 14 whereas the other portion 13 is coated with a thick insulating layer 15. As a result, the voltage resistivity of the desired portion 13 is raised to a high level. On the contrary, since the leading end 12 is coated with the thin layer 14, the temperature detected at the junction 19 is promptly transmitted so that the delay in the response time of the temperature detected can be prevented.
