Abstract
PURPOSE:To readily start the electrolytic cells of an aqueous alkali halide solution by supplying the current amount close to ordinary electrolytic current at a breath within the range where the difference between the pressure in the cathode chamber and the pressure in the anode chamber becomes 10 times or less the ordinary differential pressure. CONSTITUTION:At the starting of the electrolytic cells of the aqueous alkali halide solution of an ion exchange membrane method, the current of the value close to normal current density ids rushed in at a breath so that the difference between the pressure in the cathode chamber and the pressure in the anode chamber becomes 10 times or less the normal differential pressure. This method enables plural electrolytic cells to be subsequently started according to need without damaging cation exchange membranes.
