Abstract

PURPOSE: To measure the deformation of a pipe fitting hole in a short time and quantatively without taking off a pipe by detecting the profile of the pipe fitting hole on a pipe plate using change of resistance of magnetic resistance elements at the time of rotation of a permanent magnet.
CONSTITUTION: If a permanent magnet piece 2 is rotated by a driving motor 3 where a pipe fitting hole 17a is perfectly round, the magnetic flux of the permanent magnet piece 2 detected by each of magnetic resistance elements 41W4n is constant and resistance changes by the same amount continuously. If such change of the resistance is converted into electrical signals a straight line a is obtained. On the contrary, when the internal surface of the pipe fitting hole 17a is corrosive and deformed, the change of resistance of each of th resistance elements 41W4n becomes smaller at a layer diameter part. If such change of the resistance is converted into electrical signals a curve b is obtained. Thus, the deformation of the pipe fitting hole 17a can be detected in a short time and quantitively without taking off the pipe.
