Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the measuring precision for a running long body by compensating the distance between magnetized points by an electrical controlling means without changing the distance between a magnetizer and a magnetic point detector.
CONSTITUTION: The controlling device 6 is provided with a device which produces signals corresponding to the standard temperature and the standard tension. The deviation value of the output of a temperature detector 4 from the standard temperature signal and that of the output of a tension detector 5 from the standard tension signal are found. A performance setup voltage is operated by the sum of the products of each of those deviation values by their respective given coefficients and when the detection signal voltage of the magnetic point detector 3 is equal to the performance setup voltage a magnetization signal is given to the magnetizer 2. Therefore it is possible to measure corrected deviation of the length of a running body 1 considering the variations of temperature and tension through the number of repeated magnetizations with high precision.
