Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a polyester composition having excellent moldability at a mold temperature of ≤100°C, and giving a molded article having excellent surface characteristics and heat resistance, by adding an organic crystallization promoter to a specific polyester.

CONSTITUTION: A polyester composition which gives a molded article having a surface crystallinity of ≥0.5 and a water absorption of ≤0.2 wt% (water immersion at 23°C for 3 days), when molded at a mold temperature of ≤100°C, is prepared by compounding (A) a polyester having an intrinsic viscosity of ≥0.5 and composed of at least 80% of ethylene terephthalate unit, with (B) 0.1W20 wt% of an organic crystallization promoter such as polyethylene glycol, pentaerythritol, etc., (C) ≤15 wt% of a polyfunctional compound having one or more groups reactive with OH and COOH groups, (D) ≤10 wt% of a reaction catalyst such as an amine, a higher fatty acid metal salt, etc., and (E) ≤40 wt% of an inorganic filler having an average particle diameter of ≤30μ, such as talc, clay, etc.
