Abstract
PURPOSE: To correct side pincushion distorsion without badly affecting the deflection characteristic of a color picture tube by providing a pair of magnetic pieces on the surface of funnel-shaped part of the picture tube opposite to each other and perpendicularly to the vertical magnetic field of the vertical deflection coil.
CONSTITUTION: A deflection yoke 1 comprises a core 2, a vertical deflection coil 3 wound on the core 2 in troidal-shape, a horizontal deflection coil 5 wound in the inner periphery of the core 2 in saddle-shape through a bobbin 4, and a fastening ring 6 formed at the rear end of the bobbin 4. The yoke 1 is fastened on a picture tube 8 by a fastening band 7 provided for the fastening ring 6. On the surface of a funnel-shaped part 81, a pair of approximately semicircular magnetic plates 9 are provided in front of the yoke 1 opposite to each other and perpendicularly to the vertical magnetic field generated by the vertical deflection coil 3, thus providing good picture characteristics.
