Abstract

PURPOSE: To get a clamped tool that is used for a throw away tip system, the stepped tip being firmly fixed by means of a wedge action.
CONSTITUTION: A stepped tip 13 has its step 13a on the opposite side of a cutting edge, being inclined like a wedge. A chip breaker 13D is fitted on the cutting edge side of the tip 13 for curling or breaking chips in case of heavy duty cutting. The bottom 13c of the tip 13 is held through a bottom plate 14 on the holding face of a shank 11. A projection 15a of presser fitting 15 is fitted to the step 13a of the tip 13 which is firmly fixed to the shank 11 by means of a clamping bolt 17.
