Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the strength of a toothed belt which is composed of a tooth layer formed on one side of a tension member and a liner applied to the other side, by forming the tooth layer and liner so that they come in contact with each other with a corrugated interface with the tension member at the center.
CONSTITUTION: A liner 33 made of a heat resisting elastic material such as chloroprene rubber is corrugated on its lower side to fit tight to the corrugated upper side of a tooth layer 32 made of hard elastic material, and a tension member 31 made of glass fiber is extended over the interface IP of both layers 32, 33 in the direction of the major axis. The lower side of the tooth layer 32 is equipped with regular pitched teeth 32', while the upper side is equipped with a wooven cloth layer 34 such as nylon canvas, thus forming a solid layer through a thin adhesive layer 35 and including troughs 32b of the teeth 32'. This toothed belt can withstand heavy duty operation.
