Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the strength of welded part and eliminate damage of upper and lower electrodes and the work, by forming independent protruding parts in the parts of lower electrode confronting to the upper parts.
CONSTITUTION: Protruding parts 6a, 6b are provided in the parts contacting with the work to be welded 2a in the parts of a lower electrode 1 confronting to upper electrodes 3a, 3b, respectively. The surface area of the contacting part between the protruding parts 6a, 6b and the work to be welded 2a is made smaller than the contacting area between the upper electrodes 3a, 3b and the work to be welded 2b. In this case, the sectional area of the contacting face between the works to be welded 2a, 2b in a current passage 7 is free from protruding parts 6a, 6b, and is smaller than flat plane, and the current density becomes larger when the currents are the same in this part. Therefore, fused parts 8a, 8b formed in this part will be perfect without having to set the current larger than necessary, and the electrodes and the works will never be damaged.
