Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the title device for the preparation of a high quality polymer with short detention time, composed of a casing containing a rotor for the rapid heating of the polymer and a separator for the separation of the monomer.
CONSTITUTION: A casing 11 having an inlet nozzle 1 at one end and a monomer outlet nozzle 4 and a polymer outlet nozzle 5 at the other end, is equipped with a cylindrical rotor 10 for heating and a stirrer 20 for the separation of the monomer. The rotor and the stirrer are driven by an external motor 22 through a shaft 30 extending through a sealing device 22. The polymer which is supplied to the casing 11, is rapidly heated by the shearing force applied by the rotor 10, and moved down ward to the separating zone, where it is stirred with the stirrer 20 to separate the monomer. The polymer free from the monomer is taken out through the outlet nozzle 5, and the separated monomer is discharged through the nozzle 4.
