Abstract
PURPOSE: To perform a continuous excavation work with a rest angle which is set in response to a volume of the excavated soil by swinging the boom and the arm under a bucket angle held at a desired value, by completing a control for a position of the bucket edge point and by performing an excavation.
CONSTITUTION: The edge point 0 of the bucket 3 is controlled for its position at a predetermined bucket angle in respect to a point which is properly set in advance on the inclination lines DL1, DL2 and DL3 having the predetermined rest angle θ. Upon completion of the control over the position, the arm 2 and the bucket 3 are rotated and the excavation is performed from upward to doward direction. When the excavation is controlled, an amount of rotation Δβ of the arm which is required to finish the excavation plane along the lines DL2, DL3 or DL4 is a function of the boom angle α upon completion of the position control and thereby the angle of α and the rotating amount of Δβ are calculated for each of the excavation positions. These functions are programmed in advance, functions corresponding to the excavation positions are properly taken out, an angle of α upon completion of the position control is sensed to read out the amount of rotation Δβ, and a rotation of the arm 2 is controlled in response to the read-out amount of rotation Δβ.
