Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate the work and to prevent the damage of each machine, by providing long and middle distance sensors at the leading edge of boom while processing the output from each sensor in the computer to control each machine.
CONSTITUTION: Long distance sensor 11 and middle distance sensors 12, 13 are provided respectively at the leading edge of boom 5, at the proximity of the center of rotation of bucket wheel 6, and at the tip of boom 5. Said long distance sensor 11 measures the distance between the bucket wheel 6 and the heap during preparation work for cutting while middle distance sensor 12 measures the distance between bucket wheel 6 and the edge of heap, and middle distance sensor 13 measures the distance between the edge of bucket wheel 6 and the heap. Measured values are inputted into computor to control each machine, thereby the work is facilitated while the collision between the boom and the heap is prevented to prevent the damage of each machine.
