Abstract

PURPOSE: To raise the sureness of identification of a moving noise source such as an airplane and reduce labor, by detecting the difference in the effect of interference of direct noises from the moving sound source with reflected noises.
CONSTITUTION: When noises goes from a distant airplane to microphones 1, 1' placed at a prescribed altidude on the ground, the output levels of both the microphones are almost equal to each other and a level difference detection circuit 3 generates no output. When the airplane approaches the microphones, their output levels differ from each other due to the interference of direct waves of the noises with their reflected ones and the output of the circuit 3 increases or decreases. At that time, the times of operation of comparators 4, 4' are measured at 5, 5' and the time of continuation of the measurement is also measured at 6, 6'. The measured values are applied to a discrimination circuit 7. When a prescribed condition is satisfied, an instruction circuit 9 is started to pick out the maintained level of the reference microphone 1 as a datum.
