Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to select easily a system fit for a use, and also to eliminate the need to move a probe by forming a direct-current surface electrometer and alternating-current surface electrometer in one for a combinational use by one surface electrometer.
CONSTITUTION: For a use as a direct-current surface electrometer, common contact C of switch S1 is connected to side (a) and switches S2 and S3 are both OFF. As a result, shield gate 1 is electrically insulated from detection electrode 2, which can detect surface potential V0 of body 16 to be measured. For a use as an alternating-current surface electrometer, on the other hand, common contact (c) of switch S1 is connected to side (b) and switches S2 and S3 are both ON to make an electric connection between detection electrode 2 and shield case 1, and consequently electrode 6 is driven to vary an electric field immersing through aperture 4, so that a conduction current equivalent to its flux current will be inputted from detection electrode 5 to pre-amplifier 14.
