Abstract

PURPOSE:To carry out exact detection devoid of influence of disturbance of outside light by synchronously discriminating and retaining a signal discriminated by a received light signal from a photodetector as a quantitative signal and a light emitting signal and using the output of a synchronous discriminator as a detected output. CONSTITUTION:An optical signal from a light emitting element 3 is received by a photodetector 5 for producing a binary signal of the position or property or the like of an article for reflecting the optical signal or an article 4 located on the route of the optical signal to thereby detect the article. The element 3 emits a light under the control of a light emitting element controller 2 on the basis of the signal from a light emission signal generator 1. The photodetector 5 receives the light of different amount depending upon the position, property or the like of the article 4. The signal is then discriminated by a discriminator 7 to become a binary signal, and synchronized, discriminated and retained with the signal from the generator 1. The signal thus retained becomes the output 9 of this detector circuit.
