Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the heat exchangers of superior heat transfer characteristics and lightness in weight by filling the special granular materials composed of casting material around the zigzag form heat transfer pipe in a refractory vessel and integrally forming the porous metals by the special method in producing the heat exchangers.
CONSTITUTION: A heat transfer pipe 1 having been formed to zigzag form or other is installed, with its end parts being exposed to the outside, in a refractory vessel such as of ion plates or the like. Granular materials 5 which are formed of casting mold materials such as water soluble refractories, plaster slurry or other and have molten layers 6 on the surfaces are filled around the heat transfer pipe and the molten layers are hardened to form casting mold holes 7. The molten layers 6 are formed by coating molten casting material on the surfaces of the granular materials 5 or thinly dissolving the surfaces of the granular materials 5 with a solvent. Next, molten metal of good heat conductivity such as Al, copper or other is filled in the holes 7 through pressure operation. After the metal has solified, the moldings are taken out from the vessel and the granular materials are removed by high temperature heating or immersion in water. The heat exchanger of superior heat transfer characteristics integrally formed with the porous fin blocks 2 having multiple voids 4 between the skeleton form fins 3 is obtained.
