Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an accurate distance information for the target without any effect of the spurious by obtaining the target information respectively within the time when the transmission frequency is constant as well as within the time when the tansmission frequency receives the linear FM modulation.
CONSTITUTION: Signal generator 2 and transmitter 3 generate alternately the CW signal featuring the constant frequency and the CW signal received the FM modulation each for transmission after the pulse modulation. Here the reflected wave from the target is received at the reception circuit comprising IF oscillators 6 and 8 plus SSF7 and within the time when the transmission frequency is constant. This reflected wave is measured at velocity filter circuit 11 to obtain the velocity information. At the same time, the reflected wave is received within the time when the transmission frequency received the FM modulation and then measured at velocity filter 11 to obtain the frequency containing the velocity and distance information. Then using the velocity information obtained previously, radar processor 1 carries out an operation to extract only the distance information. In such way, an accurate distance information can be obtained without any effect of the spurious.
