Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the precision and the stability of an angle measuring unit by providing a pencil beam only for a small elevation angle having a sharp form and a fan beam which covers the inside region of a vertical face sufficiently and switching them in time division to measure the height of phase difference. CONSTITUTION:An angle measuring unit is provided with transmitter 1, power distributor 2, transmission/receiving switches 3 and 4, etc., and antenna 4 is switched to pencil beam 10 and fan beam 9 in time division by beam switching circuit 5, thus performing transmission. Next, signals reflected from a target are received again by antenna 4 and are sent to angle measuring circuit 7 through switch 3 and receiver 6, and the phase difference between the target and antenna 4 is detected to measure the angle. After that, angle-measured data dependent upon pencil beam 10 and angle-measured data dependent upon fan beam 9 are collated with each other by collating circuit 8, thereby calculating the height. Thus no abnormal height output is generated even in the electromagnetic environment where disturbance such as clutter is much, so that an accurate angle measurement can be performed.
