Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a miniature and low-cost humidity measuring instrument which requires no filter, no monochromator and others by using the CdS the light absorption end of which is shifted to the longer wavelength side for the humidity sensor along with the LED used as the light source.
CONSTITUTION: The voltage is applied from power source 2 to CdS humidity sensor 1 the light absorption end of which is shifted to the longer wavelength side via CdSe and the solid solution (CdS:CdSe=4:6). And GaP green LED3 featuring the luminous output spectrum is provided in opposition to humidity sensor 1 as the light source of sensor 1 to irradiate the green light. At the same time, ammeter 4 is provided to measure the optical current of sensor 1 at the irradiateion time of the green color light, and both sensor 1 and LDE3 and stored into black box 5. With use of the LED and the humidity sensor comprising the photoconductive cell featuring a high reliability for a long period of time, a miniature and low-cost humidity measuring instrument is obtained without using any filter, monochromator and others.
