Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the salt water of minimum contamination of the membrane by adding the limited amount of the compound containing SH groups of the specified pH and temperature to the refined water obtained by adding alkali metal hydroxide and carbonate to an aqueous alkali chloride solution and refining the same by an ordinary method, and removing the precipitate having been formed. CONSTITUTION:The return salt water from an electrolytic cell is added with edible salt B in a dissolving cell 1, thence it is added with NaOH and Na2CO3C in a reaction cell 2. In a floating cell 3, the precipitate is separated. Then, the salt water is filtered 4 and is added with hydrochloric acid D to be controlled to pH 1-7 in a pH control cell 5, thence it is sent to a receiving cell 6, where polyvalent metal ions other than Ca and Mg as well as the compound E e.g. NaSH containing SH groups of mere than equivalent, preferably twice the equivalent of Cl2, ClO<->, ClO3<-> are added. Next, the salt water is filtered 7, after which it is controlled to pH 9.5-10.5 with alkali F in a pH control cell 8, thence it is treated in a chelate resin tower 9, whereby it is made to refined salt water G.
