Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve mass-producibility and element characteristics by mutually shifting electrode fingers, where mutually-opposing weight reed screen type electrode do not confront, a half as much as of the wavelength of elastic surface waves or odd-number times that. CONSTITUTION:On a non-piezoelectric substrate, weighted reed screen type electrodes 7 and 8, piezoelectric thin film 6 and opposite electrode 9 are arranged to constitute an elastic surface-wave propagation element. To form electrode fingers 7a of electrode 7, part B which does not confront to electrode fingers 8a of electrode 8 in the propagation direction of elastic surface wavea is formed being shifted a half as much as the wavelength of elastic surface-wave length in the propagation direction. Since electrode fingers 7a are shifted by a half wavelength outside of envelope (a) in this way, an elastic surface wave excited due to the covering with opposite electrode 9 even outside of envelope (a) is mutually canceled as to electrodes 7 and 8 and, in consequence, waves generated in envelope (a) are only left, reducing waveform distortion. Consequently, the yield and mass producibility of element manufacture and element characteristics can all be improved.
