Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve the improvement in the characteristics of spectacle parts by using nickel-titanium alloy which is superior in corrosion resistance, abrasion resistance, and shape memory characteristic for the spectacle parts.
CONSTITUTION: The uses of nickel-titanium alloy for the spectacle part material lets the spectacle parts exhibit superior effect at the time of working and using. Namely, this nickel-titanium alloy, basically composed by nickel-titanium intermetallic compounds of 1:1 of nickel and titanium, is higher in acid resistance than stainless steel, is equivalent in oxidation resistance to pure titanium, is slow in the rate of oxidation, is better in abrasion resistance than ordinary corrosion-resistant materials and further exhibits superior shape memory characteristic. Hence, if this is used as spectacle parts for eye-rims 2, screws 10, boxes 4, legs 5, etc., it is extremely effectual in working and handling, thus enabling the improvement in the characteristics of the spectacle parts to be achieved.
