Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:An indolizidine-methanol derivative of formula I: (the diaryl hydroxymethyl group is present at the 6- or 7-position; Ar's are the same and phenyl or 2-thienyl groups), and its acid addition salt.
EXAMPLE: 7-(1,1-Diphenyl-1-hydroxymethyl) indolizidine.
USE: Medicines having antihistamine and antiacetylcholine actions, or an intermediate for diaryl methylene-indolizidine derivatives and their quaternary salts having antitumor actions.
PROCESS: An ester derivative of formula II: (R is lower alkyl group) is reacted with a metallic compound of the formula ArMgX (X is halogen) or ArLi to give the compound of formula I.
