Abstract
PURPOSE:To reproduce data without adjusting the characteristic of an equalizing filter according to the track position by masking a specific data discrimination window when partial response-system data recorded on a magnetic disc is reproduced. CONSTITUTION:The read signal of data written on disc 5 in the partial response- system where the inter-bit correlation is taken and converted in two steps is applied to code detection circuit 16 through zero crossing detection circuit 14 and phase synchronizing circuit PLL 15, and a bit code is detected according to the discrimination window, which is outputted from AND circuit 21 through waveform equalizing filter 8 and slice circuit 11, and is demodulated. This gate 21 is controlled by one- bit delay circuit 17, peak detection circuit 18 connected to circuit 15, shift register 19 for 1 or 2-bit delay, NAND circuit 20, etc., and if four or more bits ''1'' are continuous in write data, the discrimination window for a prescribed number of bits is masked, and erroneous detection is prevented even at an external circumference track read time of a large output, so taht the adjustment of the equalizing filter according to the track position is not required, and the reproducing system of the device can be simplified.
