Abstract
PURPOSE:To form the uniform fime pearlite structure as far as desired depth, keeping easily the specified temperature gradient, by adjusting the preheating temperature to specified range, at the rapid heating pass of the rail head. CONSTITUTION:After the rail head is preheated to 300-650 deg.C, the rapid heating is applied to the rail head keeping the rate of heat input specified to larger than 5X10<5> Kcal per unit area over through the almost whole heat input process. By this treatment, the heating depth is adjusted, and a temperature gradient is formed from the surface to the inside. By foolowed cooling for the surface, the part ranging from surface to a specified depth is transformed into the fine pearlite structure.
