Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the title material having uniform continuous micropores by mixing a predetermined ratio of fibrous carbide powder and a pitch binder into carbonaceous fine grains with a specified diameter followed by molding and carbonization or graphitization.
CONSTITUTION: To carbonaceous fine grains such as petroleum coke with a diameter of 32 mesh or below is added 1W20wt% of fibrous carbon powder obtd. by roasting rice hulls in a covered pan followed by pulverization, and they are uniformly mixed to form a filler. 40W50wt% of a pitch binder is added to the filler and molded into a desired shape. This molding is then calcined by a usual method in an inert atmosphere at a predetermined temp. to be carbonized or graphitized, thus forming innumerable uniform continuous micropores in the skeleton. The resulting carbon material for aeration in a liquid produces uniform fine air bubbles from the whole surface under a blowing press. of about 0.2kg/cm2, and it is an optimum aerating material for transportation of living fish, etc.
