Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable the expansion of the use range of the control device and the prevention of hindrances in rolling to be prevented by adding a control threshold operating unit and a control threshold judging unit to the tension control device for the material to be rolled between rolling mills.
CONSTITUTION: The signals of the thickness, width, buckling stress and sectional shapes of the material 3 to be rolled are applied from a characteristic setting unit 9 for the material to be rolled to a control threshold operating unit 10. In the unit 10, the threshold tension and threshold compressive force of the material 3 are calculated. Next, the material 3 bites in the rolling mills 1, 2 and a tension operating unit 7 operates to operate the tension generated in the material 3. A control threshold judging unit 11 compares the tension or compressive force signal from the tension operating unit 6 and the threshold signals thereof from the unit 10. If these operated signals are within the certain range of the threshold signals, ordinary tension control is accomplished and when they are close to the threshold signals or exceed then, the specified biassing signal and tension control interruption signal are applied to the unit 7 so as to return these to respectively the normal ranges.
