Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect the air-fuel ratio satisfactorily without any relationship with the use temperature and aging by specifying a reference voltage.
CONSTITUTION: There are provided a demultiplexer 121, which is operative to select the input signals in response to the strobo signals of a timing circuit 34 thereby to distribute the same to two channels, an AD converter 122, which is operative to convert the analog output voltage of a peak smaple circuit 35 selected thereby into binary digital signals, a calculating circuit 123, which is operative to calculate the intermediate value from the peak values at the lean and rich sides during one period of a voltage VA as well as the output signals of the converter 122, and an AD converter 124, thus constituting a voltage generating circuit 36. As a result, the voltages at the lean and rich sides of a connection A between an air-fuel ratio sensor 20 and a resistor 32 are detected at a preset time, and the intermediate value between the voltages detected is used as a reference voltage, which is compared with the voltage VA at the connection A by a comparator circuit 33 so that the air-fuel ratio detection can be prevented from becoming erroneous and impossible.
