Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a convenient oxygen absorbing sheet free from fear of human accident due to oral contact with the deoxidizing material, by blending deoxidizing agent made from active iron oxide and thermoplastic resin to form a sheet.
CONSTITUTION: A deoxidizing agent made from active iron oxide is blended to a thermoplastic resin such as PE, PS, PP, polyamide and polyester by the rate of less than 80%, to form into a sheet 1. Air permeating overcoat layers 2, such as inter- chain crosslinking polymer (ionomer) of PE, EVA, ethylene-metacrylic acid copolymer and metal ions, are provided on both sides of the sheet 1. The layers 2 prevent direct contact of merchandise packaged together in the sheet 1, and are also intended to give heat seal property to the surface. Therefore, the layers 2 are not needed if the surface of the sheet 1 may be exposed or when heat seal property is not required.
