Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent temperature rise of the original platen and the surroundings thereof, by blowing air towards the lower side of the original from the operator side of the original platen in the moving sheet original conveying passage, and controlling the flow of air blow in cooperation with the opening and closing operation of the original conveying device.
CONSTITUTION: An original platen 10 made of a transparent sheet glass is provided on the upper surface of a copying machine main body 9, and a sheet original conveying device 15 is mounted thereon in a manner swingable around a shaft 16. The device 15 is opened, as shown in the diagram, in the case of sheet mode for conveying sheet original, and is set in open position in the case of book mode. A cooling fan 31 is provided in the copying machine 9, and external air is taken in from an air take-in port 32 and guided to specified positions by means of guide plates 33W35. An opening 33a is formed in the guide plate 33, and an opening 36a in a supporting body 36, and air from the cooling fan 31 is blown towards the running direction of sheet original conveying endless belt 19. A shutter plate 38 opens the opening 33a by pressing a pin 39 when the conveying device 15 is in the sheet mode shown in the diagram, and closes the opening 33a by elasticity in the book mode.
