Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare an emulsion composition having reduced specific volume and good transportability, by adding an emulsifying agent to a slightly water-soluble pesticide, etc., and further adding a water-soluble organic vehicle to the resulting liquid mixture, thereby converting the mixture to solid or paste.
CONSTITUTION: Concentrate of a disinfectant or a pesticide (e.g. liquid insecticide MEP) which is a slightly water-soluble liquid, or a solution of a slightly water- soluble solid dissolved in a non-aqueous solvent, is added with an emulsifier and a water-soluble oligosaccharide or polysaccharide or their derivatives (e.g. dextrin, cyclodextrin, etc.) to convert the liquid concentrate to a solid or pasty emulsion composition. The composition can be easily and completely emulsified by adding a desired amount of water at the time of use.
