Abstract
PURPOSE: To exterminate or control pathogenic microorganisms of plants, without applying the plant directly with a pesticide, by treating the vessel for culturing the plant with 2-(thiocyanomethylthio) benzothiazole.
CONSTITUTION: 2-(Thiocyanomethylthio) benzothiazole is emulsified with a medium such as an organic solvent, to form an emulsion, or is mixed with a surface active agent, etc. to obtain powdery agent. The composition thus prepared is diluted with water to attain the effective concentration of 150W2400ppm at the disinfection. The solution is sprayed to the inner side-walls or the bottom of a vessel for culturing agricultural or horticultural plants. Plant pathogenic fungi such as Rhizopus and Trichoderma, and other fungi and bacteria are effectively killed by this treatment. The above pesticide has little phytotoxicity against rice plant at the concentration given above.
