Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten the working time and to reduce the processing cost, by means of performing the crowning to the tooth trace direction of the tooth surface of a gear body by a strain generated at the inserting time by using a thermal insert or a chilling insert technique at the stepped part of a gear shaft. CONSTITUTION:A crowning is effected by a thermal insert to the tooth trace direction of the tooth surface of a gear body 3 in an interference given state between a stepped part 4 of a gear axis 5 and a ring 6. When the inserted ring 6 into the stepped part 4 is cooled, by means of causing to be expanded by preheating the ring 6, the thermal strain due to the effect of the thermal insert is generated in the gear body 3. An expansion is generated near the center of the addendum side of the tooth surface, and this expansion becomes like a crowned state just on the tooth surface.
