CONSTITUTION: The indispensable constituents of the oxygen detecting agent are a reducing saccharide substance, a hydroxide or oxide of an alkaline earth metal and a coloring matter except for those represented by the formula where R1WR6 denote hydrogen, alkyl group, alkoxy group or nitro group, R7WR10 denote hydrogen or alkyl group and X denotes halogen.
