Abstract
PURPOSE: To eliminate the problems in quality and defects in reliability and enable multiple liquid crystal display elements to be formed from large size glass plates by providing extension parts to the liquid crystal sealing ports of spacers and cutting the opposing thin plates so as to cross the extension parts.
CONSTITUTION: Glass plates 11, 12 are opposedly held by way of spacers 13. The spacers 13 are formed for each of the enclosures to be parted and formed in the later process, are nearly rectangular and are formed with sealing ports 14 at the respectively opposing one sides. The spacers 13 near the same have slight extension parts 13a by maintaining a spacing W from the adjoining spacers in the outside direction orthogonal to the abovementioned one side parts. Then, even if the plates are cut along the A-A, B-B or C-C lines in the width crossing the extension parts 13a at the time when the plates 11, 12 are cut and are parted for each enclosure, it turns out that the sealing ports 14 are exposed to the end faces of the plates 11, 12 having been cut.
