Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a polyvinyl chloride resin composition having excellent flame- retardancy, without using a large amount of flame-retardant, by adding Al(OH)3 and/or Mg(OH)2 to a polyvinyl chloride resin, and crosslinking the resin.
CONSTITUTION: The objective resin composition is prepared by (1) compounding (a) 100 parts by weight of a polyvinyl chloride resin with (b) pref. 5W300 parts of an inorganic hydroxide comprising Al(OH)3 and/or Mg(OH)2, and optionally, Zn(OH)2, Ca(OH)2, Zr(OH)4, Sn(OH)2, Fe(OH)3, Pb(OH)2, PbO(OH)2, Pb3O2(OH)2 and/or MoO(OH)3, and (2) crosslinking the composition, e.g. by using a metal salt of a weak dibasic acid and a quaternary ammonium salt.
