Abstract
PURPOSE: To make industrially profitable catalyst of high performance for use of the gas phase catalytic oxidation of methacrolein possible to be manufactured, by specifying the atomic ratio between respective elements of the catalyst of Mo-P-Ba- (Cs)-V-Sb-Cu-O-type.
CONSTITUTION: The atomic ratio between respective elements constituting the catalyst of composition to be described below, is specified as follows. MoaPbXc VdSbeCufOg [in which, X is Ba and/or Cs. Besides, if a=12, b and c are respectively 0.1W5, d=0.05W5, e and f are respectively 0W5. (however, when X includes Ba, e+f≠0, and when X excludes Ba, e≠0 and f≠0), g is 36W84 being determined by valencies of other metals]. When methacrolein is gas phase oxidized by employing this catalyst, since respective elements is composed with other elements, a synergistic effect is developed, so that methacylic acid can be manufactured at good yield.
