Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform efficient solid-liquid separation of sludge of a biological membrane system by making the reciprocating motion range of a brush washing means, larger than the width of a screen, which rubs the back side of the screen of an inclined flat screen device having many slit holes.
CONSTITUTION: Screen 2 consisting of wedge wires 1 arranged parallelly is inclined, and rotary brush 3 is set on the back side of screen 2 and moved back and forth between one end of screen 2 and the other end according to the arrows while turning brush 3 on its axis to rub the back side of screen 2. When brush 3 reaches one end and shifts to the opposite direction, the turning direction of brush 3 is reversed. Since the reciprocating motion range of brush 3 is larger than the width of screen 2, rubbing stress applied to bristle 4 is eliminated at end parts of screen 2, enabling continuous use of screen 2. Bristle 4 protrudes beyond the surface of screen 2 through slit S of wires 1. Accordingly, clogging is prevented effectively, resulting in efficient solid-liquid separation.
