Abstract
PURPOSE:To manufacture a steel sheet plated with molten zinc on single side, by use of a non- plating agent composed of a water-soluble phosphate, an inorg. inert substance, and an org. wetting agent, hereby making possible direct coating on the surface of the steel sheet, to which rolling mill lubricant is adhered, so as to prevent the plating on the nonplating surface, and to make easy the removal of the treating agent. CONSTITUTION:A non-plating agent, which is composed of (A) a water-soluble metallic phosphate selected from the group consisting of metallic phosphate, e.g., aluminum primary phosphate, metallic condensed phosphate, modified phosphate, (B) a fine powder of an inorg. inert substance such as silica sol, alumina sol etc., (C) an org. wetting agent such as a plasticizer, i.e., a phthalic ester of a monohydric aliphatic alcohol, e.g., butyl alcohol, octyl alcohol, of a melting point not higher than 0 deg.C, is applied on the single side surface of a steel sheet to which a rooling mill lubricant is adhered. The steel sheet having completed a nonoxidizing (or oxidizing) reducing process is dipped in a molten zinc on single side thereof. The ratio of the components of the non-plating agent by volume of nonvolatile matter is A:B=3-20:97-80, and the ratio by volume of C to the sum of A and B is 3-30 parts pref. 5-15 parts C per 97-70 parts (A+B).
