Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide the title plate which maintains its excellent transparency for a long period, composed of an acrylic resin composed mainly of methyl methacrylate, and a specific amount of glass fiber.
CONSTITUTION: A solar radiation transmitting plate for a solar collector, composed of (A) 15W50wt% of a glass fiber pref. having a refractive index of 1.50W1.54, and (B) 85W50wt% of an acrylic resin composed of (a) 100W50wt% of methyl methacrylate and (b) 0W50wt% of a vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon such as styrene and optionally a compound having two or more double bonds such as ethylene glycol dimethacrylate, CH2CHCN, etc. The plate is light in weight, highly transparent to solar radiation, and has excellent weatherability. It gives a solor collector having high heat-collecting efficiency and excellent durability.
