Abstract

PURPOSE:To prepare the high-polymeric hypotensive substance free of side effects, by extracting cells of Chlorella with hot water, separating and concentrating the extract, removing the low-molecular weight fraction with a specific molecular sieve, and then extracting the high-molecular weight fraction with another specific molecular sieve. CONSTITUTION:A substance having excellent hypotensive activity, can be obtained by (1) extracting Chlorella cells with hot water, (2) separating and concentrating the extract, (3) subjecting the concentrate to gel-filtration with a molecular sieve, Sephadex G-25, to extract the fraction having molecular weight of >=5000, and (4) subjecting the extract to the gel-filtration with Sephadex G-75 to extract the fraction having molecular weight of >=10000.
