Abstract

PURPOSE: Coating the surface of an oil-dirtiable instrument using in a cooking room or a working room with polyvinyl alcohol, whereby adherent oil can easily be removed by washing.
CONSTITUTION: An exhaust fan of a kitchen is disassembled into impeller, outer frame and cap. The surfaces of the disassembled parts are washed with a synthetic detergent. Water on the surfaces are wiped off, and the surface of the parts are dried at a room temperature for 15 minutes. The surface of the impeller is coated with an aqueous solution of polyvinyl alcohol by various coating methods. Oily stains of the coated instruments can easily be removed together with polyvinyl alcohol by washing, because polyvinyl alcohol is water-soluble. Coating methods such as dipping, coating, spraying, etc. canbe used. Any water-soluble and film- formable polyvinyl alcohols canbe used. Preferred polyvinyl alcohols are those having a degree of polymerization of 300W2000 and a degree of saponification of 70W100%.
