Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide gel electrolyte for a cell which has a suitable elasticity and can be favorably close contacted with positive and negative electrodes of the cell by constituting method for producing same such that organic electrolyte is poured to porous material of polyalkyl methacrylate and then, after sealing, is heated for the purpose of gelation thereof.
CONSTITUTION: A separator 7 consisting of a non-woven fabric of polypropylene or the like and a disc of sintered porous material of polymethyl methacrylate particles are first placed on a positive electrode in a casing. Organic electrolyte such as propylene carbonate containing lithium borofluoride dissolved therein is then poured into the casing whereafter a sealing plate having a negative electrode connected thereto and a gasket 8 are assembled to the casing 1 and caulked thereto to seal the casing 1. The cell is then aged, for example, for an hour at 80°C for the purpose of gelation of the electrolyte in the cell. Such production method can thus provide gel electrolyte which has a suitable elasticity and can be favorably close contacted with positive and negative electrodes of the cell whereby cells of a fixed quality can be provided.
